  1. Here are some student reflections...

"Patrick and Jake are quite funny and educated. There were three different genres of drama we learned. The first genre was Shakespeare. Shakespeare is funny because men had to dress as women. The second genre was comedia del arte. Arlecchino is a character who walks and acts like a cat. Il Dottore is a character who asks people if they need help. He THINKS he is smarter than everyone else. He acts like a fat lazy pig. The third genre was miming. In mime you can't talk which makes it harder. You have to make the audience understand what we are doing by our actions. Apart from miming you have scripts for plays. There are two types of scripts: open and closed. With open scripts you add actions to tell the story. With closed scripts it is the opposite. There is a different way of acting called impromptu. There are no words, actions or story line with impromptu. Therefore is like a really open script and the actors have to make up the story as you go. You can't block the other actor's ideas. We thought the workshop was dramatic and exciting."
